Most of the conspiracy theories revolving around the Sphinx usually involve its age. The Sphinx is generally accepted to have been built along with the Pyramids of Giza around 2500 BC. It is even accepted that the face of the Sphinx bears the likeness of Khafre (Chephren), the Pharaoh during that time.

However, there was no written record from that era regarding the Sphinx or its construction. In addition, the human head of the Sphinx is small in relation to the rest of the body, indicating that the head bearing Pharaoh Khafre’s likeness could have been carved out of a larger lion’s head. These points led some researchers to believe that the Sphinx could have been built much earlier by a more ancient civilization, thus starting a whole host of conspiracy theories.

Geologist Dr. Robert Schoch and author John Anthony West made a case that the erosion marks on the Sphinx appears not to be made by wind or sand, but by water, such as falling rain. They used evidence of other structures in the Giza area to prove their point. If this were true, the construction of the Sphinx could then be dated back to at least 5000 BC, when the area still received substantial rainfall, in contrast to desert conditions later on.

In his official website, Director of the Giza Monuments Dr. Zahi Hawass provides various points suggesting that the evidence used in proving Dr. Schoch’s theory is flawed.

Adding to the conspiracies surrounding the age of the Sphinx, writers Graham Hancock and Robert Buvaul provide evidence in their book Message of the Sphinx that the creation of the Sphinx and Pyramids can be pushed back as far as 10,500 BC using astronomical data.

Secret of the Pyramids

The Pyramids of Giza have been the objects of many conspiracies over the years. Many people believe that the Pyramids are a link to an ancient lost civilization, and may still contain evidence to prove it. Many conspiracy theories regarding secret chambers and passageways within the pyramids exist to this day.

These conspiracy theories became even more widespread in 1993, when Dr. Zahi Hawass announced that the Great Pyramid of Khufu was to be closed to the public for a year. The reason given for the closure was to facilitate cleaning, conservation and restoration of the interior chambers in the Great Pyramid.

However, conspiracy theorists believe that the Egyptian authorities had uncovered evidence of a lost civilization in the Pyramid, and were secretly excavating it to reveal more information.

During the conservation process in 1993, robots were used to explore the small ventilation shafts leading from the “King’s Chamber” and the lower “Queen’s Chamber” in the Great Pyramid. An intriguing discovery was made: partway through the shafts of the “Queen’s Chamber” were “doors” with handles.

In order to prove the transparency of their work and debunk any conspiracies, Dr. Zahi Hawass decided to partner with National Geographic to explore beyond the “doors”, and provide a live telecast of the exploration to the rest of the world.

After much publicity, the expedition commenced, with footage telecast live around the world. During the last minute of the show, a camera was sent in a hole made in the “door” of the shaft, revealing another “door” behind it. And that was when the show finished. Why has this become an enigma? By shopping for your needed travel accessories prior to your departure, you can save precious time and money. How often have you prepared for a dream vacation? You have cleared your schedule at work, after painstaking negotiations with you colleges. Next comes a drastic diet and clothes shopping for those perfect skin tight Denims, along with other “necessary” perfect clothing articles that your home closet always seems to be missing at this point in you trip preparations. Now what have I forgotten, you ask yourself?? Well let me tell you what you forget every time.

Think back to previous trips whether by air, sea, car etc. Remember all that wasted time and huge expense (as compared to the costs at home) during your trip, searching for all those need Travel Accessories, the ones you promised yourself you wouldn’t forget next time! The required digital camera, to document your visits to all the new sights around you. And that needed portable DVD player, now made as light as a feather, to use while traveling to and from your destinations, along with those times during your trip when you have decided you must take a day for R & R, or you won’t have the energy to continue on any more daily excursions, or presenting yourself at mandatory, lectures, meetings, or performances.

Miracle of miracles, you now have a lot of extra time and money that you previously spent trying to finds those forgotten but needed items.

Now you have extra money and time on your hands, that you can use on much more pleasurable experiences, the type that you traveled a far distance to see and experience in the first place. When Traveling To Barcelona, Spain, a Visit To The Picasso Museum Should Be at the Top of Your List.

Few destinations should not be missed when traveling through Europe. The Picasso museum in Barcelona is definitely one of those unique destinations. As you read my article, you will understand why I make such a bold statement.

Spain is a country, a part of the European continent, both of which are over flowing with museums, living and/or established specifically this purpose.  So why do I single out this average size museum amongst all the living Castles and large museums with very recognizable names.  Could this be due to the single artist that this museum represents?  Or is it possibly due to the 3,500 works that make up its permanent collection.  As you read on, the answers should become crystal clear.

To fully understand an artist, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, and why his art pieces are associated with such a continually increasing demand while the supply remains finite, then The Picasso Museum in Barcelona becomes indispensable.  This Museum is also key point in understanding Picasso’s genius as a young artist along with his solid and intimate relationship developed with the City of Barcelona.  This relationship that was originally shaped in Picasso’s adolescence and youth, continued until his death in 1973.

The museum boasts, and rightly so, to have acquired the most complete collection of Picasso’s youthful works found under one roof, that remains open and available for the visual consumption of the general public.  Barcelona must thank a friend of the artist, Jaume Sabartes, along with Picasso’s wishes, which were made very clear in 1970 with his own donation of all his early works to this museum.  This very large donation now makes up a large part of the museum’s present total collection, which includes representations of every period of the Artist’s life, up to his death in 1973.

The museum also possesses a large and fairly complete representation of his works starting with an important chapter in Picasso’s life.  This chapter begins in 1917, the year that the artist met Olga Kokhova, kicking off his most important relationship with a mate.  At this point, to stay with Olga, the artist went to Rome along with the Diaguilev’s ballet company.  Later, Picasso, with Olga at his side, traveled to Barcelona.  The purpose of this trip was to introduce her to his Spanish based family.

His stay in Barcelona was long.  This period was marked by his transition from Cubism to the reencounter with classicism.  The museum also has a priceless group of works from his later Blue Period.
